Screened in Porch Addition in Harrisonburg, VA Project

Porch Project Details

Project Location: Harrisonburg, Virginia

Project Timeline: February to April 2018

Scope of Work: Removed the small wood deck and replaced with larger, covered, screened-in porch.

Porch Addition Story

For this project, we started by removing the existing 12′ by 16′ wood deck. We built a new 16′ by 24′ porch base. We used tongue and groove PVC decking to keep the bugs from coming up from the bottom. Next we created the A-frame roof to extend from the house over the porch. The ceiling is complete with a decorative fan. We completely screened in the porch and built two doors leading to small deck spaces outside the porch. All the finishes (shingles, siding, paint, and colors) were matched to the existing house, making the porch addition fit perfectly to the house. The red double doors from the house were left leading to the porch. Our client loves to open them wide when she has visitors to extend her hospitality space out onto the porch. All in all, the project added a beautiful venue for hosting, relaxing with a cup of coffee, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

What We Love About Porch Additions

The benefits of porch additions make these type of projects a wonderful option. One benefit to porches is the ability to spend more time outside in the evenings or mornings. By screening in and adding a roof, you can use the porch in more types of weather than you otherwise could. Screens keep the bugs out, but allow for the cool evening breezes to come in. Porches are a great place for parties, hospitality, or having guests. We love the many options that porches provide.
